In the fantastic landscape of the Alta Murgia, characterized by vast rocky plateaus and karst caves, there is this bauxite quarry with fantastically bright colors, with red predominating. This site, now a post-industrial relic where the extraction of the precious mineral ceased in the late 1970s, looks like a top-class geosite, almost like a film set. It cannot be officially visited because the area is prone to landslides. It can be reached via the road that leads from Castel del Monte to Spinazzola, where there is a sign on the left. From here you have to drive carefully for a few kilometers on a dirt road until you come to a barrier that blocks the entrance. Then you have to continue for about a kilometer along a small road that can be easily covered on foot. From here you immerse yourself and enjoy this landscape, in an almost surreal silence.
