Hello, we are an Italian-German couple, Ute (former fashion designer and costume designer, now hiking guide in Puglia) and Mario (former sound engineer-music producer, now multitasker, chef, photographer, landscaper and passionate donkey whisperer) and we run the organic farm “Giardini di Marzo” with our eight donkeys, our five dogs and our farm cat. Our farm is located in the middle of a large Mediterranean botanical garden, between the slopes of the Itria Valley (valley of the trulli) and Salento (heel of the boot). The strategically favorable location, in the immediate vicinity of the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea (about 35 minutes by car), offers an ideal starting point for the most famous attractions of Puglia, such as Lecce, Otranto, Gallipoli, Ostuni, Alberobello or Matera, but also for excursions on foot, by bike or with a real donkey. Thanks to the mild climate, Puglia is very varied and attractive even outside the main season. Whether in spring for the almond blossom, at Easter for the traditional Easter processions, “I Misteri” in Taranto or “I Pappamusci” in Francavilla Fontana (both close to us!), in autumn for the olive harvest or during the Christmas period with the folkloristic living nativity scenes in the rock caves. And for those who can't stand hot temperatures, in winter (January/February/March) you can go hiking, cycling and visit cities and museums at an average temperature of 12°C, without the crowds of tourists. If you don't feel like all this, you can relax undisturbed on a deckchair or a hammock in our garden or have a chat with one of our 8 curious donkeys about the meaning of life. Our organic farm 'Giardini di Marzo' offers 4 shaded pitches for campers (max. 8 x 2.34 m), caravans, camper vans or tents in an authentic and natural environment. Each pitch has a large private garden and its own stable electricity connection (included). The bins for separate waste disposal and a communal sink for washing dishes are located in the center of the pitch and can be used free of charge by all guests. In the immense park of about 20,000 square meters, evocatively illuminated at night, there is a "common square" under a large walnut tree, furnished with tables, chairs and hammocks, where people can gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner or simply for a glass of wine. Not far from the "common square", there is an original stone tower with a company shop and two bathrooms with toilet, shower and an outdoor shower for a fee. Children up to 6 years and pets are free. On our farm shop you can buy the award-winning organic olive oil “Oro Messapico”, an excellent “Aceto Balsamico di Puglia”, the exclusive prickly pear elixir “Regina Spinosa” and many other high-quality products from our own production, as well as products from friendly companies such as wine. In the summer months we offer a rustic dinner on request and, from time to time, we heat the wood-fired oven and organize an outdoor pizza evening. During the year we offer visits to the botanical garden, professional olive oil tastings with Mario and Mediterranean cooking courses. We also organize donkey rides or individual day trips and excursions with a tour guide. Ute will be happy to give you tips on cultural excursions or the most beautiful hiking and cycling tours. The sun shines here, every day... Very important information !!! We are not a classic campsite with 24-hour service, but an active organic farm and can therefore receive guests only upon reservation. If you come to us spontaneously, you should expect to have to wait in front of the closed entrance gate.
