A very large, secure parking lot where you can still park even during peak season. It is NOT recommended to drive down the approximately 6 meters to Portonovo with a motorhome, as campervans are not allowed to park anywhere in the parking lots! This is the only parking lot for large cars/campers during peak season. Free shuttle to Portonovo beach runs from approximately 8 a.m. to midnight during peak season. Small garbage trucks drive through the parking lot in the morning. The parking lot is large, clean, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. you pay €8/€5 during peak/off-peak season. Free and lit at night. The shuttle bus runs down to the beach every 15-20 minutes during peak season. When the day trippers have left, it's very quiet and also ideal for children to play in the parking lot in the evenings or mornings. For those who want a quieter beach, we recommend taking the bus, then turning right toward the church and beach, and then continuing along the beach. You then reach a natural beach, uncrowded even in high season, with driftwood huts. Climbing further over the rocks, you reach a beautiful cove with a nudist beach. It's well worth the effort, quiet and local, with a beautiful sea. It's recommended to wear water shoes for swimming and hiking sandals or sneakers for walking.
