We were told by locals that Cinecitta is the safest metro station around Rome. We noticed that Lidl was completely empty, but the car park was full. Everyone seems to be either parking in Lidl carpark (There are both height restricted and none height restricted spots so probably best to arrive early if you require height above 2.3m) or across the road in the mall carpark (2.3m underground, or unlimited height above ground) and then getting the metro into Rome. Metro is to go anywhere for 100 minutes. You can take this line from Cinecitta to Ottaviano right outside the Vatican City. Or Repubblicca to Rome centre and closest to the Colosseum. Lidl closes generally at 9pm, we left our van for 8 hours from 11am-7pm with no problems.
